[At end of essay on recent published articles:]
Since nonsense is so justly compared to small-beer in the
bottle, which foams, bounces, and evaporates; it may not be
amiss to give you the same sentiments in the elegant words
of the most ingenious Mr. Pope.
Flow Welsted, flow, like thine inspirer beer,
Tho' stale, not ripe, tho' thin, yet never clear,
So sweetly mawkish, and so smoothly dull,
Heady, not strong; tho' foaming, never full. [signed]
Dunciad.
